
Graduated from Forestry program from Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay Ontario in 2009 and relocated to Northwestern Alberta (Peace River area) working with Alberta Wildfire as a Forest Officer working wildfire and auditing forest operations. Summer of 2022 worked as a fire base supervisor at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park to currently working as a Senior conservation Technician with RLBR. Mike got interested in Bird Banding in 2003 when he started volunteering his days off to band Great Horned Owls, Red-tailed Hawks, Ferruginous hawks, Swainson’s Hawks with Dr. C Stuart Houston. In 2010 he received his master’s bird banding permit and joined the ISOWG (international Snowy Owl Working Group) focusing his efforts on studying Snowy Owls. To date Mike has banded over 10,000 birds with help from his friend and mentor Brent Terry.
